Al Harty was 19 when he went to live and work in Key West in 1956. Swimming, snorkeling and beach volleyball became avid pastimes. He moved to Miami to work for the Weather Bureau, and then bid on a position in Honolulu. His many jobs throughout the Pacific Ocean finally took him to Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, where he became an accomplished SCUBA diver and undersea photographer.

Currently, nature and landscape photography are his focus. A very diverse portfolio is growing. Photographing perfect images is his preference, so that the subjects are at their best! Simply put, the rest is adding sunlight and blue sky, when you can, to graceful angles, correct focal planes, and interesting backgrounds. In the following collection you will find plumerias that look so real and perfect, you can smell the fragrances, or a honey bee, Jackson’s Chameleon, majestic whales, huge hibiscus, orchid wonders, blue jade, fish-in-a-bottle, stunning sunsets, and much more. When on Maui, see Al's work in the Old Lahaina Courthouse Galleries, and his displays at the Lahaina Arts Society, Banyan Tree Art Fairs.
Al is launching this colorful photography book, telling stories and adventures, with 75 narrative poems, about 170 unique photographs, undersea and on land. Go to the BOOK page, enjoy a poem, and order your autographed copy, that also comes with a small, single matted, FREE PHOTOGRAPH, of your choice!
